Toastmaster for Natalie & Aaron at Brome Grange
My final busy weekend has been completed. Last Friday (27th Sept.) I popped over to The Boathouse at Ormesby to view this lovely new venue for weddings. It is still very much a work in progress but when completed looks like it’s going to be a pretty stunning venue with wonderful views over the broad. They have already taken a number of bookings for weddings and two couples have booked me to be their toastmaster there next year.
On Friday evening I was MC at the charity Sporting Club dinner at Brome Grange. It was a great evening and the marquee looked absolutely beautiful. The Brome Grange team did a splendid job and I look forward to working with them in the future as their recommended toastmaster. I managed to get a picture taken (thanks to Lisa North) with legendary jockey Bob Champion. Chelsea FC legend Ron ‘chopper’ Harris was also in attendance along with comedian Micky Pugh who kept everyone entertained. He also conducted the auction and raised over £3,500 for the Sporting Club charity. Of course real star of the night was magician Sean Goodman who did close-up magic at all the tables.
On Saturday evening I was welcoming guests and introducing various acts at the Bridal Party Show at the Mercure Hotel, Boundary Road, Norwich. This was a new venture in ‘wedding shows’ and included live entertainment and a free raffle. It was the brainchild of Sophie Garrod and Lucy Stone of www.eventsintheeast.co.uk and in my opinion was very successful. There were many different exhibitors filling the City Suite and over-spilling into the bar area. My favourite act of the night was Cherry Morello who sang in the foyer as guests arrived. My favourite because she sang vintage songs that I knew all the words too!
On Sunday, Greenwoods men’s suit hire, held a ‘wedding special’ day at their shop in Orford Place (behind Debenhams). It was good to meet couples who had come to look at hiring their wedding suits and also to work alongside City Brides, photographer Rob Dodsworth and designer florist Jessica.
To top the weekend off I watched Match of the Day 2 and saw the Canaries win away from home. Let’s hope they can do as well against Chelsea this weekend although I will have to watch it on MOTD2 again as I will be at the EDP wedding show at Dunston Hall all day Sunday (6th). I look forward to seeing many of you lovely engaged couples again between 11am-4pm.
My busy weekend started on Friday (20th September) with Alan & Debbie for their wedding at Dunston Hall. The sun shone and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Great to work with top photographer Terri Brice again. On Saturday (21st) the town crying at Great Yarmouth Specsavers branch in the Market place certainly drew the crowds. The 80’s night at the Holiday Inn Norwich-North on Saturday evening was very noisy as there were lots of ladies out for hen nights and birthday parties. Finally, Sunday (22nd) I was at the Brome Grange Wedding Show (picture courtesy of Lisa North). It was great to meet some old friends and lots of lovely couples, many of whom had already booked their wedding at this splendid venue. I have another busy week ahead but more about that later. Need a good nights rest.
